If beta-hcg is more than 1500 and you are not able to detect an intrauterine gestational sac, it means it is ectopic pregnancy. 

in normal pregnancy, beta-hcg rises by more than 35% every 48 hours. if it is not rising in this trend, suspect ectopic pregnancy.
