PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE (PID) and STI in female

Risk factors:

1. Multiple sexual partners: this is the biggest risk factor. It increases risk by 5 to 20 times

2. previous PID

3. Not using barrier contraceptives

4. age group of 15-25 years old because there is a high risk of gonorrhea and chlamydia in this population.

Treatment:

on OPD patients, we use ceftriaxone+ doxycycline

In Inpatient, we use cefoxitin+ doxycycline.
